One Month Later...

It's official, I've been unemployed for one month (voluntarily) and I'm not quite bored yet. And I've been a Portland resident (actually living in my apartment) for two weeks. So, here's what I know...

- I miss my old daily routine. Get up, shower/dress/etc., hop on the trolley, make coffee, sit at my desk....NO, wait a minute, I miss part of my daily routine.

- Before I retire, getting a long-term, involved hobby is a must!

- Portlanders drive pretty damn slow! Except for the old men driving Oldsmobiles, who the hell drives slower than 55 mph on the freeway in SoCal?

- Not being able to pump my own gas feels really strange. The first couple times I wanted to tip the pump attendent. Is this normal for a long-time SoCal resident?

- Fred Meyer rules! What else can I say...is there another major chain-store where you can buy groceries, clothes (decent quality stuff) and housewares all at once?

- No hard alcohol in the supermarkets. Why? Not that I give a shit but I just have to wonder.

- I'll never rent a top-floor apartment in an old-old building again...unless the elevator is less than 40 years old and there is central a/c or good cross ventilation.

That's all for now. I'm sure there's something I've left out.
