What are you gonna do with Bush's $600 check?
$600 doesn't buy a whole lot these days. Here's a few I thought of...
- 150 gallons of gasoline. Good for about 2700 miles of driving at 19 mpg.
- a Transit Pass for 9 months (unlimited miles!)
- 240 grande americanos at Starbuck$.
- one year membership at my gym plus 4 personal training sessions.
...then I started thinking just how much more Uncle Sam could afford to put back into the US economy if the Iraq War didn't suck us for $5 TRILLION. Oh, sure some of the money we're spending on the war is landing in Halliburton and Blackwater's bank accounts. But $5,000,000,000,000 would make for a $16,666 "stimulus check" for EVERY U.S. citizen (based upon a pop. of 300MM)! Wouldn't that make you more likely to spend frivolously? Makes that $600 check seem like pocket change...may as well just put in the bank.
